Dog has piece of wood in teeth?

i was playing with my dog outside and he found a stick. He chewed on the stick and then started acting weird. I found that their is a chunk of wood in his teeth. Im not sure what to do. Should i take him to the vet or is there an easy way i can get it out.

He is small and wont let me look or put my hands in his mouth.

i got lucky and saw the wood when he yawned

Take him to the Vet. If they can't get it out without sedation then they can sedate him to make sure they get it all out. Infection will set in if you don't get it all out...I would leave that to a professional.
Reply:Get someone else to hold your dog down and see if you can floss it out. If you think it's getting worse, bring him to the vet right away. more than likely, the vet tech will be able to get it out.
Reply:Just get someone to hold your dog and depending on the size of it use tweezers or needlenose pliers to pull it out(make sure they are very VERY clean). After that just make sure the gums do not start to swell or look infected . If they do then take him to the vet.
Reply:he should be able to get it out onis own. is it stuck in his teeth, or lodged in the roof of his mouth. if its just in his teeth, it should be okay, but if its lodged in his mouth, it could cause infection
Reply:Take him to the vet.. IMMEDIATELY... that will get infected and could KILL HIM... don't mess around... this is a real emergency if you love the dog.
Reply:Give him a bone to chew on. It will work as floss for his teeth
Reply:If he won't let you put your hands in his mouth, he might bite you if you try to remove it. Take him to a vet. If the wood doesn't work itself out it could cause infection, illness and maybe death. Teeth are serious business.
Reply:My dog had a piece of bark wedged across the roof of her mouth between her back teeth. The first time I took her to the vet because I didn't know what to do. After that I could put my finger under the bark/wood and pop it out. If it's not across the roof of the mouth and in the teeth you should be able to pull it out with needle nose pliers, you'll probably need help. Good luck.
