Do you really brush your dog's teeth?

You really should brush your dog's teeth occasionally, but do NOT use toothpaste made for humans. It can cause serious stomach upset in dogs. Buy doggie toothpaste and toothbrushes at your local pet supply store.

Do you really brush your dog's teeth?
Brushing their teeth not only helps their teeth and gums, but it also prevents kidney disease!
Reply:i don't but i guess i should.
Reply:No. I don't brush my dog's teeth. I feed them Iams and let them chew on rawhide bones or chew toys. Iams has dental care in the food.
Reply:Who said I did?
Reply:It is very important to keep you dog healthy, and brushing your dog's teeth is part of that. Your dog's teeth are just like ours. They can develope gingivitis and all that nasty stuff. Also, your dog can develope very bad breath if you don't brush his/her teeth. So please, for your dog's sake (and yours!), brush it's teeth!
Reply:Brushing you dog's teeth is good not only for their dental condition, but their overall health as well. Your veterinarian can provide a pamphlet with the proper technique. Just make sure they have their own toothbrush!
Reply:Yes it is highly recommended by vets to brush your dogs teeth. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, then you can always have a groomer or the vet do it, for a price of course. ;)
Reply:My wife does, she even uses doggie toothpaste and it helps keep down tartar buildup which can lead to potential diseases as well as expensive cleanings.
Reply:My dog actually LOVES having her teeth brushed. I use a child's toothbrush and toothpaste. She lets me brush all of her teeth. Truthfully, I haven't tried flossing.

PS This isn't high priority in my household, so I only do it occasionally.
Reply:I don`t have time to brush my dogs teeth so I get them treats that whiten their teeth. Dogs would much rather chew on a treat than gettin their mouth pulled open to brush their teeth. Lams makes good teeth whitin treats.
Reply:I work for a veterinary hospital and any pet owners out there you try to make it a habit to brush your animals teeth just as you would do your own ,dental care on animals is expensive dentals on animals start at a minimum of $300.00 dollars and up
Reply:I brush my dog's teeth about 4 times a week with doggie tooth paste available at petco
Reply:You can go to petco or petsmart and go to the healthcare section. If your dog has bad breath, like mine, you can buy dental bones,my dog loves them. You can also buy doggy toothbrush and toothpaste. There is a flavoring you can put in their water etc.
Reply:Yes, it promotes the dogs overall health. However, it is not necessary to do it everyday, as with humans. Also, it is imperative to use dog toothpaste, as normal toothpaste is dangerous for dogs to ingest. There are also a wide array of dog bones and treats that are now available to help clear plaque and help with doggie dental health.
