What is the best way to keep my dog's teeth clean and healthy?

I changed to Canidae dog kibble, 2 years ago..It worked miracles..OLD dog's teeth are sparkling white..the vet was amazed..

What is the best way to keep my dog's teeth clean and healthy?
give him/her bones and brush thier teeth all i give my dog are bones and it seems to work fine
Reply:Feed them dry foo and treats. you can also use greenies. you can buy them anywhere and they work.
Reply:Try those dentabones
Reply:Chewing on raw, knuckle bones is great for a dog's teeth. No other kinds of bones, though, and no cooked bones.

The other thing (and really important for some breeds) is to brush his teeth regularly. You need to buy a dog toothpaste because they're formulated for dogs and a soft toothbrush (if you have a very small dog you might want to get a finger toothbrush). Put a little toothpaste on the brush and just do the very front teeth the first few times so the dog can get used to it. Pick a time when he's quiet and tired to make it easier. Just be gentle and patient, your dog will get used to getting his teeth brushed. (Mine really like the mint toothpaste!)
Reply:DON' WAIT TO GET THE DOGS TEETH CLEANED BY THE VET. THEY NEED IT AND SOMETIMES DEPENEDING ON THE BREED EARLIER THAN OTHERS. THEN MAKE SURE TO PROPERLY BRUSH THEM EVERY SO MANY WEEKS AT HOME.
Reply:Doggy chew bones.

Profession vetinarian cleaning of teeth annually.
Reply:brush them with toothpaste or give them treats to help clean thier teeth
Reply:Chews with activated charcoal.
Reply:Give em a bone to chew on. It will help their teeth and their breath. plus it is good for them to gnarl on one.
Reply:I give mine the bones and toys that help their teeth. Also, since mine like to roll in everything outside I have to often bathe them and I also brush their teeth with a childrens soft toohbrush. They seem to like it. There are even different flavored toohpastes for doggies.
Reply:You can actually brush your dog's teeth. They have special toothpastes for dogs. They also have toothbrushes for dogs too, or you can buy a regular one and use that.

A good raw, marrow bone, or knuckle bone will keep your dog's teeth free of tartar. I buy those rope toys for my dogs that have blue or green strings intertwined in them. They are suppose to help with flossing and keeping your dogs breath under control.

You can also ask your vet to do a teeth cleaning for your dog. It can get expensive (so I have heard)
Reply:there and a special kind of treat called yip-yaps they brush and make your dogs teeth smell good. also you can buy a tooth brush and brush your dogs teeth. you can go one google.com and ask if you can put human tooth past ina dogs mouth to brush it.
Reply:A quality dry kibble like the ones at http://www.frrco.com/121668

It seems more expensive but you feed less because of the higher quality ingredients, so it costs about a few cents more per feeding.

Nylabones, which can also be purchased at the above site. These also give them something to chew to reduce boredom.

Kongs with dental ridges. You can put doggie toothpaste in the ridges and this will clean the teeth while they chew!

Reply:bones and chew ropes. Unless you want to brush their teeth! they do make doggie toothpaste. Mine just get chew ropes and bones.
Reply:The only way to keep your dogs teeth truely healthy is to brush them on a daily basis. Use a dog paste only CET makes some pretty tasty ones. My dog prefers the poultry flavor. A lot of groomers offer teeth brushing, but if they are just done once a month or so thats not going to help much, it has to be done daily. Then after the age of 6, whenever your pet is due for yearly vaccines have your pet sedated and its teeth cleaned on a yearly basis.
