My dog is loosing teeth please help?
this happened to my dog. It scared me a lot, I asked a similar question on Yahoo answers myself and everyone told me to go to the vet, so I did. The vet told me that the tooth would fall out and I would give him medication until the gum healed. Then he said that my dog would have to eat soft food, and I would have to feed him plane rice and pasta weekly. He is missing a tooth but as peppy and nice as always!
Reply:see the vet for a dental. I don't think you can get false one. make sure she has easy to chew food.
Reply:i dont know alot about dogs but the best thing you can do is that her to the vet
Reply:You sure can go to the vet and get them cleaned. After they are cleaned you should go back regularly for cleanings (talk to your vet). A good treat for dogs to keep their teeth clean (I know a lot of products advertise this, but this works) is Greenies brand chewies, they are pretty expensive (like $8 for a bag) but sooo worth it. As for falsies, that sounds expensive....
Reply:dental help call the vet
Reply:You can go to the vet and have them cleaned, but i was told that they may have to put her under and thhis will cost you hundreds of dollars. You can get them all pulled too, but that may even be pricey.....as far as dentures. I don't think so, lol. She'll just have to eat mushy food.

My chihuahua has bad teeth, she has lost a few. Unfortunately, we found her and never took her to the vet (i'm young and poor) so we don't know how old she even is.
Reply:The teeth grow back. Go to a vet to clean the teeth or PETCO or PetSmart they can clean and a clip the your dog's nails'
Reply:I do not believe that they can put false teeth in but your dog should have an oral check-up with it's annual check up for heartworm and any needed shots. At that time the vet would probably recommend a cleaning especially if it is to the point of decay where the vet thinks that it may lead to tooth loss.

7 seems very young for a Maltese to lose her teeth, It makes me wonder if it is some type of a genetic defect in her lineage. If she is a purebred with papers I would see if you could track down her breeder and get some more info.
Reply:Yes. Dogs should have their teeth cleaned by a vet on a yearly basis. Abcessed teeth can cause all kinds of problems for dogs, not to mention cause their breath to smell terrible. If your dogs teeth are so bad that she's losing them, she's probably in a good deal of pain. The best thing to do for her is to make an appointment with her veterinarian as soon as possible so they can clean the teeth that are still good and extract the bad ones.

Sorry, but as far as I know, there are no doggy dentures. Dogs tend to do just fine if their missing a few teeth though. She might not be able to eat kibble without it being moistened a little, but overall, your dog will feel a whole lot better.
Reply:You should have them cleaned and maintain them with a toothbrush for dogs. if she is pure breed, then she is just like an older person, and it is common to lose teeth. get her treated for any gum diseases and her teeth cleaned and if anymore are too far gone then by all means have them pulled. you pay have to switch her to wet dog food if her molars are gone. remember to slowly switch her over or she will have diahrea.
Reply:its ok my aaunts dogs teeth do hat to they will grow back so dont worry
Reply:Yes, you can have your vet clean your dog's teeth. As far as false teeth go, you'll just have to ask your vet if he/she can do that. Just about anything that can be done for people, can be done for pets, now. This may be a procedure that your vet does not do but he could possibly recommend someone else who can do it.

Most pets do just fine without teeth.
Reply:go see the vet
