How do i brush my dog's teeth?

I don%26#039;t have doggie toothpaste...What should i use?

How do i brush my dog%26#039;s teeth?
you don%26#039;.t Use a doggie chew toy that%26#039;s made for brushing dogs%26#039; teeth.
Reply:There are all kinds of tooth brushes for dogs but a regular wash cloth will work just as well. And its going to be difficult at first, but just don%26#039;t give up. Your dog will eventually get used to this, hopefully, like any other grooming routine.
Reply:Do not use human tooth paste. Buy dog%26#039;s tooth paste, or just plain water.
Reply:Dogs don%26#039;t need their teeth brushed as long as they have chew toys. Look for chew toys that aid in removing plaque from dog%26#039;s teeth. Depending on the size of the dog, I%26#039;ve found that for my PitBull a tug rope works the best because when he chews on it it gets in between his teeth and rubs on them too.
Reply:try this, everyday touch your dogs teeth and gums with your finger for a week get your dog used to the feeling of having something rub its teeth and gums then after the week replace your finger with a soft brisle toothbrush and use meat flavored dog toothpastle (never give ur dog human toothpastle its not good for them). you should brush your dogs teeth everyday once a day and start when its a puppy.
Reply:there%26#039;s a doggie toothbrush and doggie toothpaste that is sold in some local grocery stores.also you can find it in petstores.and if you don%26#039;t know how to brush them, then go to your local petstore and ask one of the groomers or sales people there.

How do you keep your dog's teeth free from plaque and tar tar?

My teen dog had to have a cyst removed. The vet was amazed at how clean her teeth were. He said they normally do teeth cleaning while the dogs are under, but that hers were absolutely clean. This summer I had a 7 year old spayed, and he said the same about her..

I have always struggled with dental care on my several dogs, some trying to stay ready for showing..but their teeth are sparkling clean since I switched to Canidae dry food 3 years ago. .they have never been in better over-all good health. My 11 year old actually dances as we walk..She can still outrun my 3 year olds! (sight hounds)

How do you keep your dog%26#039;s teeth free from plaque and tar tar?
There are milk bones, and dog treats that you can get at places like petsmart or petco that can help with this. You can also get a local vet to provide some suggestions, but I use dog treats.
Reply:Dental chews, hard kibble, and brushing their teeth. If the plaque build-up is real bad (some dogs are worse than others for this), an annual (or even semi-annual) teeth scaling by the vet would be a good idea.

But just go to a pet store and look for pet toothpaste and a brush. And Nylabone makes some plastic chew toys that have nubs on them designed to clean dogs%26#039; teeth.
Reply:You can buy a doggy toothbrush, it should come with beef flavored tooth paste. But keep in mind you should NEVER use human toothpaste on a dog, as it is unsafe.

You can also buy dental bones in mind flavor to help with your problem as well.
Reply:They have special tooth brushes for pets my grandmother has one and she brushes her dogs teeth like daily to keep plaque off.
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard that they need to have bones and things to chew on to keep there gums and teeth clean .

Also you can brush their teeth --- not kidding . There%26#039;s a special finger brush that you stick on your finger and brush away. Not so sure about toothpaste- the fluoride might be bad for them
Reply:There are a few ways. Some people do them all, some people do none, but most people do at least one.

-Feed him/her dry food. This helps to clean their teeth, and also doesn%26#039;t contribute to tartar as much as wet food.

-Rawhide and bones helps to clean teeth as well. The also sell special chews/bones just for the purpose of teeth cleaning.

-Brush often or occasionally. They sell special toothpaste for pets.

-Have them cleaned professionally by a vet or groomer.
Reply:There are treats that help. You can also get a pet tooth brush and toothpaste, and, try to brush his or her teeth.
Reply:I%26#039;ve always given my dogs raw beef bones and that%26#039;s kept their teeth good and clean.
Reply:Brush every other day in you can, for larger dogs you can use a child%26#039;s toothbrush, in some dogs there lips gum create soirt of pocket on the outside of their teeth and the back of the mouth where food getting trapped so removing the pocket of food with the tooth brush helps

Most dogs swallow kibble whole so dry kibble will not help to maintain teeth

Genetics also plays a role, some dogs have have dense teeth with a thick smooth layer to cover the teeth, and others will have very porous teeth that under a microscope looks like a sponge food and bacteria with cause the tooth pore tofill up with tarter and that create a rough surface that allows tarter to bind very easily on the tooth surface so even with regular brushing you may still have to take the dog for yearly cleaning,

In certain breeds like greyhounds and shihtzu they have a high likelihood of having genetically bad teeth.

I had one greyhound who was 9 never had a dental and very little brushing and yet she had no tartar when she passed away, my other I was brushing constantly and still had to send him for cleanings every 9 months and even did gum grafts since he was having so much gum recession, and had sealant applies to try and reduce the frequency of vet visit s for cleaning with no luck, and he was eating Canidae at the time too
Reply:You get food and biscuits meant to keep tartar build-up to a minimum.

If need be have them cleaned by a vet

Invest in a doggy tooth brush from your petshop, and along with toothpaste for pets, it%26#039;s dental care made easy.

Remembr it only builds up on the outside, for some reason, not the inside.
Reply:good food and good oral care of care!

try to buy food that is tar tar and plague free for your dog. also there is a solution that you can add to your dog drinking water that can promote good oral care, available in pet stores.

and most importantly, try to brush the doggie teeth like minium 2 times per week and clean their mouth using wet wipes after each meals. also, regular dental check up for your mate. you dont want them sick, do you? =)
Reply:Simple answer.....raw bones. Nothing can replace using raw bones in a dogs diet. Check with the butcher at your local grocery store and ask for some raw beef bones.
Reply:Give him good milk bones to chew and that will help.....keep his teeth clean. Also, I use a regular tooth brush on her and regular paste...She loves it....I do this once a week. Making sure I also brush her tongue.
Reply:First, if your dog already has plaque and tarter than you need to have the teeth profesionally cleaned at the vet%26#039;s office. they do make milk bones and other sorts of treats, but the best way is to have them cleaned and then to, believe it or not, brush them like you brush yours. they make special brushes and toothpaste that tastes like liver and all that so dogs like it. the treats do good, just not as good as the brushing.
Reply:dog bones
Reply:You can buy toothpaste at the pet store for your dog, and they have different flavors like peanut butter.
Reply:Brushing your dogs teeth regularly (with dog toothpaste, not humans), dental chews, dry dog food, ect....These are all excellent ways to keep your dogs teeth nice and healthy. You should also have them checked out by your vet every so often to make sure he has no underlying gum ot teeth problems.
Reply:just brush her/him teeth regularly, dogs are prone also to cavities, tartar, or plaque
Reply:brush them
Reply:One way is to give them dog biscuits. They are a treat for them and good for their teeth.
Reply:By giving it the dog teeth treatment, its available at Wal-Mart in the pet section!!
Reply:brushing the teeth and dog biscuits.
Reply:I started brushing my dog%26#039;s teeth as part of her grooming. If you begin it young they should be ok with it.

Also milk biscuit/bones.

I think also good chew toys like Pig ears and those chews are good for teeth also.

How can I keep my dog’s teeth clean and healthy?

brushing them, doggie bones specifically for cleaning the teeth, GOOD dog toys and chews that promote clean teeth and gums, a GOOD quality food, and regular vet visits.

How can I keep my dog’s teeth clean and healthy?
brush them?
Reply:You Can Use Raw hides those help, or There are Certain Dog bones formulated for that.
Reply:hmm~

take your dog to the vet...

And they will tell you how to do ^^

* Good luck *
Reply:give them a bone and hard dog biscuits
Reply:There are a couple things. One is to brush them with a normal toothbrush. Another is using a specialized toothbrush. A third that%26#039;s more cost-efficeint than the special toothbrush and more conveinient than the normal one is buying them something to chew on that is made to clean their teeth.
Reply:The very first consideration is healthy food.Healthy, raw food will reduce, and even eliminate, the need to brush your dog%26#039;s teeth.

But many people do find that their dog%26#039;s teeth do need brushing regularly.

Step one is to select an appropriate pet toothbrush. The ideal dog toothbrush will have a long handle, an angled head to better fit the mouth and extra soft bristles. Another option is the finger toothbrush that fits over the tip of your finger.

Step two is to select an appropriate toothpaste. The best pet toothpastes contain enzymes that help control plaque.Rather than placing the paste on top of the brush try to place it between the bristles. This allows the paste to spend the most time next to the teeth.

Step three is to get the brush with paste into your dog%26#039;s mouth and all the teeth brushed.
Reply:Brush his teeth.

Feed him/her Dog Bone crackers - treats.

These are high in calcium and roughage that

scrub his teeth and gums as he chews them up.
Reply:I may not have a dog, but I know you can get special toothpaste from the pet store and give their teeth a brush with a normal toothbrush ( not your toothbrush ) . Or you ca get those minty dog sweets which is ment to clean. So many ways ! lol
Reply:They do have dog toothbrushes and toothpaste. Do not use people toothpaste! Your vet can also do annual cleaning.

Reduce or eliminate soft treats. Stick to dry food and crunchy treats.
Reply:Go to your vet, and ask him for doggie toothpaste (it comes in a ton of flavors, including liver, chicken, and bacon) and a doggie tooth brush (they have extra long handles and angled bristles). Follow your vets instructions as to how often you should brush, and buy bones or treats specifically desgined to clean their teeth. I think that there is also a new dog food that is suposed to keep their teeth clean.

How do you brush your dog's teeth without him biting you?

Give him trouble for biting, praise him and treat him for putting up with it. You can%26#039;t just start with a tooth brush, either. Dogs first of all don%26#039;t like their mouth%26#039;s being touched, you have to get them used to it, it%26#039;s not something you normally do to them.

Here%26#039;s a how-to

http://www.placervillevet.com/dog%20toot...

How do you brush your dog%26#039;s teeth without him biting you?
Your dog bites you? Mine wont open her mouth.
Reply:You don%26#039;t hes a DOG
Reply:You just have to get him used to it. Give him lots of praise and a treat afterwards. If he bites you, scold him by saying %26quot;No!%26quot; in a firm voice.

Also, they have yummy beef or cheese flavored tooth paste for them.
Reply:You can give him bones to eat which clean his teeth. Or you can buy special treats which do the same thing, you probably shouldn%26#039;t clean it with human toothpaste anyway.
Reply:chloroform
Reply:you dont.

just let him chug some listerine.

no seriously, dont do that. i was just kidding.
Reply:go to petsmart and get the long handled tooth brush - dog will chew on brush but as long as you keep your fingers out of his mouth you should be fine
Reply:Well how old is your dog?

Your dog MUST be used to it when he grows all his teeth. Otherwise, he%26#039;d not really understand what you%26#039;re trying to do, thinking that you%26#039;re shoving an object down his throat.
Reply:what you should do is hold his mouth shut but lift up the skin and brush that way he cant bite you bu he can still have a beautiful smile :)
Reply:I heard that if you try to PRY open the dogs mouth they don%26#039;t like that most of the time...

Try just lifting their lips instead and slowly work your way inside...I%26#039;ll try to search for a clip or something...

Here, this show is a local thing for me so I don%26#039;t know if this website is gonna work for you though but I hope it helps if it does...

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section...

There%26#039;s also a part 2 under the video player if you don%26#039;t what your looking for in the first clip....
Reply:Very carefully, if at all. Let%26#039;s face it, to have a dog%26#039;s teeth cleaned requires sedation, so brushing a dogs teeth is probably pretty much out of the question. I think that%26#039;s what dog bones are supposed to accomplish.
Reply:Take a baby wipe and put some toothpaste on it and just rub his teeth and gums,if you do this often it will help.
Reply:---looks like ya got a pretty vicious dog on your hands!!-----

it all depends on what kind of dog it is!!! if you can%26#039;t succeed, try your local dog grooming joint and see if they clean teeth. my dog groomer does, and she even sold me a toothbrush so i can clean my dog%26#039;s teeth. (when you squeeze the toothbrush, it barks) it makes brushing more fun and makes my dog more relaxed. Try petsmart or some dog-related store for one!!!! Also, they now have something called YipYAp, which are daily breath mints for dogs!!! Hope i helped!!!! ( by the way, if your looking to freshen his breath, YipYap will definately help you, but if your looking to actually clean his teeth, you proably won%26#039;t succeed because dog%26#039;s teeth are hard to get white, and i beleive the vet told me it is their nature to have thick enamel.)
Reply:It doesn%26#039;t sound like you%26#039;re %26quot;top dog%26quot;. You have some training issues to deal with with him.

Those aside, the next time he%26#039;s at the vet, ask them to brush his teeth.

But you should make at least one appointment with a dog trainer, because your dog should not even consider biting you. It%26#039;s clear he considers himself the alpha dog.
Reply:See first you have to earn the dogs TRUST ,, if you don%26#039;t have it then don%26#039;t bother brushing his teeth,, ! that would suck to have a dog that wants to bite me,, never had it! My dogs have always trusted me to cut nails , bath, clean ears,, etc, stuff that needs done! Good luck,, !!
Reply:try this

http://www.placervillevet.com/dog%20toot...
Reply:Well, you could either just give him bones to clean his teeth, or look for a longer handled brush and maybe a different flavor of toothpaste. When i clean my dog%26#039;s teeth, he actually likes the mint toothpaste the best...maybe you could try that! if he still tries to bite you, scold him when he does, and when he is cooperative, give him praise!

How should i brush my dog's teeth ? she wont let me?

can u please explain i did alot of reaserch online and i did wat they asked me to do such as

For the first few sessions don%26#039;t even use a toothbrush. Gently stroke the outside of her cheeks with your finger. After she becomes comfortable with that, place a dab of toothpaste on your finger and let her taste it

but she would not let me do it

what should i do

How should i brush my dog%26#039;s teeth ? she wont let me?
she wont let you put your fingers in her mouth or wont let you use the toothpaste?

if its the former, keep working with her. it is important regardless for any pet to allow you to touch them anywhere at any time.

make sure you are using a doggy toothpaste, human toothpaste can be toxic. doggy toothpaste also comes in a variety of flavors. most dogs really like the chicken flavor.
Reply:Try it with meat first - like ground beef - then get chicken flavored toothpaste
Reply:Who says you have to brush your dog%26#039;s teeth?

Just give her some raw meaty bones.
Reply:ask a vet maybe?
Reply:Get toothpaste for dogs and then maybe she will let you. There are some in various flavors. Ours like the peanut butter.
Reply:1st, make sure you buy toothpaste for dogs. They love the taste of it, and it%26#039;s safe for them to swallow. After that, just sit on her and hold her head.
Reply:ummmm yea....make sure you floss and have her gargle.
Reply:Try the same approach with dog toothpaste which dogs like the taste of. Alternatively, get certain toys that help clean their teeth and keep their gums healthy - ask the pet shop - they can direct to some things
Reply:If it is the taste, change toothpaste until you find a flavor that she likes. Even try the kids toothpaste that comes in flavors.
Reply:Beef flavored toothpaste on your finger. Walmart carry%26#039;s it
Reply:Seriously.

Do you really need to brush your dogs teeth?
Reply:Buy Her a chew toy, to clean her teeth,
Reply:Put her on her side.... laying on herside, put your legs over top of her... one or 2 depending on how big she is... and stick whatever you wanna stick in her mouth to clean her teeth... you honestly should have someone else hold itt open for you while you work... but the main thing to do is to hold her down so she can%26#039;t have manaueverbility.
Reply:i dont brush my dogs teeth, i buy her one of those bones that says that it cleans teeth. if she dosent chew it, i play with it with my dog.
Reply:Well I guess flossing is out of the question then.
Reply:Milk Bones. Start with them and work your way up to the brushing part. Toothpaste was designed for humans, not dogs. Dogs like to chew. That%26#039;s why chew bones came along and all those other cutesy things you pay big bucks for. Unless you get your dog as a puppy and introduce the toothbrush as a play toy it%26#039;s pretty much a hopeless case. Toothpaste, forget it. It%26#039;s a human thing. Get a toothbrush, smother it in liverwurst or whatever and that might peak puppies tasteglands. Mints and other human flavours won%26#039;t cut it.
Reply:buy her a new toothbrush. make sure it is sturdy. my dog likes the hard plastic ones with the soft rubber on the edges. and put it on the floor.

that%26#039;s it.

my dog LOVES to chew on the whole thing, bristles and all. Of course, my dog is a small Yorkie, so make sure your dog cant eat it or choke on it. but I have pics of him brushing his own teeth. I took a few to my dentist and vet. They love them!!
Reply:Hi,

I have the dog that is just as stubborn as your dog. Maybe even more stubborn...she won%26#039;t even let me open her mouth! Imagine how I would possibly brush her teeth..

My dog was given, I had her for two years..and on the third week I had her, I discovered that she had gum disease.

When I attempted to stick the toothbrush into her mouth, it would always bleed. It had always freaked me out, I stopped doing it.

If your really concerned about your dog%26#039;s teeth, I bought dental chews (green rubber/hard/ and a chewy dog treat) They should sell them in all pet stores.

I let my dog chew on these treats for weeks, she still chews them. She loves them, her teeth has really improved :)

I hope that gave you some ideas.

Good luck with your doggie!

~Viv
Reply:just like bathing, your dog will get used to it if you are consistence in the attempt. try showing him his favorite treat while attempting the brushing.

remember that it%26#039;s very important to keep your dog%26#039;s teeth clean, cause if not it can and will set up poison in your dog%26#039;s system.

just keep keeping on and you%26#039;ll win him over.

good luck
Reply:Yes dogs should have their teeth brushed and also be on hard food. You are her mommie and she will get away with what she wants. You have to be her pack leader. Take charge and keep it up weekly. It is good if you use chicken favor or beef favor toothpaste for dogs. Don%26#039;t use your toothpaste. Use a toothbush for dogs too. This covers more of the teeth and you can be in and out before she knows what is going on.
Reply:good for you knowing that you have to keep your dogs teeth clean.

Wow it is a pain!

Go to butcher, have them cut you a 2%26quot; piece of cow femur. give to dog. Bam - your done!

Raw Meaty bones do wonders for the teeth!

They love it, you don%26#039;t have to fight it! WIN WIN
Reply:It sounds like you are off to a good start!

Be persistent and don%26#039;t give up.

There are many alternative, but don%26#039;t just do one/

Dental health is SO important in making your pets life much longer.

Studied have shown the tartar and bacteria in a dogs mouth over time will cause heart problems and infections.

I use many things for my dog.

Chews help with the %26quot;chewing%26quot; surface of the teeth and mainly the back premolars

There are water additive to help kill the bacteria in the dogs mouth, which helps. The only brand that I like is CET, it is flavorless.

CETdental.com

The site above has WONDERFUL information and AWESOME products. My dog LOVES the chews, they are a longer processed beef hide with chlorhexidine (to also kill bacteria)

What helped me when starting to brush my dogs teeth is I found a toothpaste he liked (dog only of course) and let him lick it like a treat. Eventually i worked up to a toothbrush and held his lips back while he enjoyed the toothpaste.

Also there is a new SEALANT for the teeth called ORAVET

Reply:you can buy special dental chew bones that clean dogs teeth from pet shops

How do i clean my dog's teeth?

She is 4 years old and has a serious dislike for the vet. Please help me.

How do i clean my dog%26#039;s teeth?
You can get gauze squares from CVS or any other pharmacy and just wet it with warm water and rub it along the outside of the teeth only. They also sell bones that help keep the teeth clean. If you want to spend alittle bit more money, your vet should have a really good food that helps clean teeth called T/D. It%26#039;s made by Science Diet and works really well. You can give it as a treat if you want too.
Reply:Look for bones called Dent-a-bone or some type of treat that will say on the package to help prevent tarter buildup
Reply:Buy pig ears, or anything rawhide, and milkbones. They do work.
Reply:you can brush them with a tooth brush or give him those dental bones
Reply:they have dog toothpaste go to akc.org and look under products
Reply:with your toothbrush
Reply:You can go to the pet store and get doggy toothpaste and toothbrush, and if she lets you, you can just brush her teeth like you would brush your own.
Reply:There are foods for gum and tartar/plaque treatment you can get from the vet. Another thing you can ask about is this little rubber thimble thing that you put on your finger and can massage your pet%26#039;s teeth and remove the plaque yourself.
Reply:you can buy one of those doggie tootbrushes/ or give him denta bones... my dog has really bad breath even if i brush her teeth so i give her denta bones...
Reply:take her to the groomer!! they brush their teeth.
Reply:There are some snack biscuits that help to keep her teeths clean, try Pedigree or Purina%26#039;s they%26#039;re the best.
Reply:You need a doggie toothbrush, and some meaty flavoured toothpaste. It isnt%26#039; hard, just hold the dog steady, and brush away. Look in a pet store!
Reply:use a finger brush like a baby uses reccommended by vet and use toothpaste they have doggie flavored ones they like better
Reply:I brush my dogs teeth, but I have friends who swear by this product. http://oxyfresh.com/pet/ Just add it to her water.
Reply:try to do it yourself they sell a lot of stuff to help you at pet stores and they are good and to keep them clean give them dentabone or something like it.
Reply:Stay away from %26quot;Greenies%26quot;. they are supposed to be good for teath, but CNN had a report last year about how they are getting stuck in dogs intestens and killing them. The vets are removing them almost whole from the intestines during autopsies. I dumped a whole bag of them after hearing the report.

Why does people think Chihuahuas bark so much?+ Do people clean dog's teeth w. tooth brushes?

Tell me y do they bark. what kind of tooth brush+tooth paste, And y+ Where to get it@

Why does people think Chihuahuas bark so much?+ Do people clean dog%26#039;s teeth w. tooth brushes?
chihuahuas are small. they bark because they are insecure and easily frightened. small dogs are often more aggressive than large dogs for these same reasons.

i don%26#039;t brush my dog%26#039;s teeth; i don%26#039;t care how many vets tell me to do it; never done it; never will. my parents never did it; no one i know ever does it. i give my dog dental bones from time to time.
Reply:Cause ours does all the time. And no we don%26#039;t brust their teeth with tooth brushes. But you can go to pet smart and get their teeth brushed!
Reply:My personal opinion about why Chihuahuas bark so darn much or any very small dog is that they have a complex. I mean.. they are SO tiny and look up to any humans or large dogs and feel so small. But then again, thats my personal opinion. I dont know the technical reason.
Reply:I don%26#039;t brush my dog%26#039;s teeth personally, but I know people that do. You can get a toothbrush and toothpaste from Petco, I know they have some flavored toothpastes so dogs are a little more eager about it.
Reply:I hope English isn%26#039;t your first language, because you can%26#039;t speak it correctly. It should be %26quot;Why DO people......%26quot;

People think they bark a lot, because they do. Why do they? Can%26#039;t answer that. Because they are Chihuahuas, maybe?

Some people do brush dogs teeth. In order to have it done properly, the vet has to do it, and they are put to sleep to have it done. Dogs don%26#039;t like having their teeth brushed. Dry dog food helps, dental bones help, and pet stores sell toothbrushes and toothpaste, but I%26#039;ve never had any luck with them with my dogs.

One of my dogs has pearly white teeth, and one of them is at the vet right now getting hers cleaned. So it probably has something to do with their genes too, if their teeth need to be cleaned a lot.
Reply:I dont think so, mine is very quite only barks when he wants to get on the sofa and can%26#039;t help himself.

There is a special soft brush available for them its in Petco and comes with a special toothpaste to flavor them.
Reply:Not all chihuahuas bark a lot. It depends on the individual dog. My friends chihuahua ONLY barks if someone he doesn%26#039;t know comes in the house. And its only a few barks. And yes, you use a toothbrush to brush your dogs teeth, or you can get a finger brush, and you HAVE to use dog toothpaste. Human toothpaste is harmful to them. You can probably get it at your local pet store.

mens health

Should u brush a dog's teeth?

No girl. You get that from Air Bud.

Should u brush a dog%26#039;s teeth?
YES... Vets recommend everyday and that is practically impossible so once a week is fine.
Reply:oh yes, its very good but if you cant do that dental sticks they work exactly the same.
Reply:Well, yeah, you should, but good luck. My miniature poodle always tried to bite whoever was brushing his teeth.
Reply:http://alllinthis.blogspot.com

you can get much information in this website, kindly stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time
Reply:YES

It is not necessary, but it is reccomended. You can go out if you want, and buy a toothbrush.

ADDED: A dog toothbrush, that you can buy from the pet store.
Reply:yes it is recommended once a week to once every two weeks to reduce the chance of rotting.

I do my dogs teeth every two weeks along with cleaning her ears.

Do NOT use regular toothpaste as it is verrrry unhealthy for them, there is dog toothpaste at pet stores, as well we specialized toothbrushes but a baby toothbrush or small soft end toothbrush would work just as well.
Reply:yes but not with a normal toothbrush.you can buy a dog toothbrush for dogs in your local petshop.
Reply:I actually brush my dog%26#039;s teeth twice a day, but recently I got a new spray product which I am adding into our routine that is absolutely amazing. It%26#039;s called PetzLife: Oral Care Spray. You spray it in their mouth (not even on the teeth) at night before bed and their teeth are spotless in about 2 weeks. (The bottle says 30 days, but it worked a lot faster for me).

Additionally, with my dog I am able to get my friend who is a dentist to come over and if I can hold him, scrap his teeth 3-4 times a year.

I have a neighbor additionally that swear by the Nutro Max dog biscuits in the light blue box. She says those work wonders on dogs teeth. I personally prefer the dental chew bones by Zuke%26#039;s.

Things you want to avoid are the pedigree dental bones - they are like junk food for dogs. Also greenies can be very dangerous are if your dog does not fully chew them, they will not break down in the dog%26#039;s stomach. A neighbor of mine actually had her beagle die from that.

Now how to get you started though. Buy the chicken flavored toothpaste and start by giving you dog a little bit as a treat. Then gradually move up so you brush a few teeth each day. Gradually adding more and more teeth over time. And before you know it you will be brushing your dog%26#039;s teeth.

In terms of toothbrush, don%26#039;t get one of those finger ones. Your dog can and will bite through it. I personally use a child%26#039;s toddler toothbrush - much cheaper than the pet ones and works just as well. (If you have kid%26#039;s it%26#039;s also a great way to get them to brush their teeth with the dog.)
Reply:I highly recommend you to that prevents from getting cavities and you can watch very close if anything bad on his her teeth before anything worse develop you can take to the vet.

I had a dog for 10 years and had to put her to sleep and mostly all the problems came from bad teeth
Reply:Yes you should.

They have dog toothpaste and tooth brushes.

DON%26#039;T use HUMAN toothpaste it is HARMFUL to dogs.

Use DOG toothpaste which can be found at any store.
Reply:Technically you should brush your dog%26#039;s teeth after each meal (like we do), but you can usually get away with once a week minimum. Use a small toothbrush and PET toothpaste (human toothpaste is harmful to human and dog stomachs, we can spit it out. dog%26#039;s need a toothpaste they can swallow, so be sure to get a toothpaste just for them). Another thing that helps is feeding your dog only hard kibble (instead of wet or soft food). If your dog doesn%26#039;t like having his teeth brushed, you can work up to it but introducing the brush, paste and actually brushing very slowly. The first few days just have him smell the brush and taste a little of the paste. After he becomes accustomed to them, put your hand on the top of his muzzle and gently pull each side of his mouth up. Do both sides each day for a few days. Then you can introduce the brush with his teeth. If you go slowly enough, most dogs should be fine with it.

One more thing, don%26#039;t use those Greenies/Denta Bones, I%26#039;ve seen them turn teeth and mouths green. Yuck! Good luck :)

Do you brush your dog's teeth daily?

My dogs all get raw bones and rawhides-- my oldest dog has never needed a dental, and she sees the vet regularly. The enzymes in the raw bones help to keep the teeth clean.

Here is a website with some good information: http://dogs.about.com/cs/disableddogs/a/...

Do you brush your dog%26#039;s teeth daily?
Yes! My pup has chicken flavour and berry flavour toothpaste... he LOVES a good brushing :D
Reply:i really try to. i use a finger brush.... and a tooth brush every once in a while. if im to tired then i give her a rawhide cchew stick.
Reply:No, too difficult with 6 dogs, but I do give them C.E.T. chews, they have an enzyme that helps prevent tartar build up on their teeth and I take them for dentals if they need them.
Reply:No...my dog will attack the brush =D Its actually quite funny, but I tried it once and wont do it again. She is a chihuahua, go figure.

I recon it is good if you do though. Don%26#039;t use human tooth paste though
Reply:Nopeee

the vet said my dogs teeth were healthy!
Reply:No... ):

she runs away immediatley.

cant do it ughh
Reply:I have never brushed my dogs teeth.
Reply:Nope. I%26#039;ve never brushed her teeth, but I frequently give her special chews and sticks that do a great job at keeping her teeth clean.
Reply:Not anymore, I switched to a raw meat and bone diet and they don%26#039;t have the buildup they used to get eating kibble..
Reply:every other day..they%26#039;re still puppies so they%26#039;re teeth is gonna fall out but i do it to get them in the habit of brushing. They were irritated at first, but found out it wasn%26#039;t so bad. The only problem i have now is that i%26#039;m trying to brush while they%26#039;re trying to lick they%26#039;re lips. yumm meat flavored toothpaste haha

I give them rawhide bones as well..they absolutely love it and they stopped chewing on things they%26#039;re not suppose to!
Reply:I try to sometimes but I take them to the vet to have their teeth cleaned on a regular basis.

Vet said their teeth looks good and healthy.
Reply:Not daily, but I try to a couple times a week. =) He loves the toothpaste, but gets a little fussy while I%26#039;m brushing. I use a finger brush.
Reply:Once in awhile. But it%26#039;s difficult to get my puggle%26#039;s mouth open when she%26#039;s running away from me! LOL! :-)
Reply:yeah i try to, when i don%26#039;t have time i give her a dental chew (not greenies, those are VERY bad)
Reply:No. I honestly don%26#039;t think it is really necessary to brush their teeth every single day. We feed our dogs a good quality dry dog food, they have bones and toys to chew on and we give them greenies very often. Now, if they ate wet food, didn%26#039;t chew on toys and bones all of the time and didn%26#039;t get greenies, I would most likely brush their teeth everyday. But because the dry food and all of the chewing helps to get plac off of their teeth, we do not brush their teeth everyday. However, there is no substitute for brushing their teeth, so we do brush their teeth 2-3 times a week. Another thing is that we own 3 dogs and while that%26#039;s not a huge amount, it%26#039;s just easier to not have to brush three sets of teeth on a daily basis. We will normally do each dog on a different day, it%26#039;s much easier that way.
Reply:Not at all. It%26#039;s smart if you just give your dog a bone to chew or they have certain play toys that are made to clean teeth. If you have a small dog like a Maltese it may be good to brush their teeth at least once a week, but larger dogs like labs are better off with a bone.
Reply:I am a dog lover and have had dogs all of my life. I have a Pom and an English bulldog. I take them to the vet and give them good good and things to chew on, but I do not brush their teeth. Sometimes I think we go a little overboard. I mean dogs have lived forever without having their teeth brushed. I think that good crunchy food and good things to chew on are all they really need. Still, I am not a vet, so you do what you want to do.

Yh brush it when it got a stinky BREATH
Reply:Yes. Of course! At least two times a week.
Reply:i dont brush my dogs teeth but my uncle brushes his dogs every morning
Reply:I don%26#039;t brush them. I give them bones which help to clean their teeth. It%26#039;s hard getting most dogs to stay still so you can clean their teeth.
Reply:Of course, at least 2-3 times a week. I don%26#039;t enjoy getting my hair singed when my pup licks my face ... do you know where that tongue has been? :o
Reply:I brush my Pug%26#039;s teeth about 3 times a week.

He hates the tooth brush so I use sterile gauze, wrap my finger with it and rub his teeth and gums for a few minutes ( or until he says %26quot;stop%26quot;)

it%26#039;s easy,
Reply:i dont brush our dogs teeth but they eat mint and chew on bones and that cleans there teeth
Reply:I%26#039;m not very good about doing that but I try to give them treats that help to clean their teeth. Mine figit too much I should be more persistant
Reply:All a dog needs is a good shank or Knuckle Bone bone to clean its teeth.

The Vets try to tell you your dogs need a teeth cleaning.. its silly IMO and a waste of money.
Reply:I own nine dogs and I brush them tjheir teeth everyday.
Reply:Yes- I brush his teeth 2-3 times a week. I use a finger toothbrush and toothpaste for dogs- he enjoys this because the toothpaste taste good to him- and it smells like bubblegum. its a good habit to get into to keep their teeth healthy and strong throughout their lives. I don%26#039;t believe the dental bones/ biscuits are enough to keep the teeth at there best.
Reply:Yes you can, and if you must use something to freshen the breath use a VERY TINY amount of toothpaste (about the size of a pin head).
Reply:GingaVitas plays a part in all teeth including dogs.

If my cats let me i would do it to them to.

Health is somthing all living things can appreciate.

Im sure your dog dosent like it at the moment but 20 minutes later with that minty breath he/she is sure loven it!!!

Do you brush your dog's teeth?

And if so, how often?

Do you brush your dog%26#039;s teeth?
Brush his teeth with a special dog toothpaste (you can get it at a pet store, maybe even target or walmart.) Do it about once or twice a week.
Reply:i think at least once a week.
Reply:No, but every now and then i give him a special bone that has floride for dogs in it.
Reply:yes. every single day.
Reply:Absolutely and I do it at least once a week. I highly recommend it.

Here is a website on why you should do this:

http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/teeth.htm
Reply:Yes.

My breed (papillon), as with many toy breeds, is prone to bad teeth.

I actually do it about once a week (and sometimes I miss a week, BAD OWNER!) but I really should do it more. The best would be nightly or at least 3-4 times a week.

.
Reply:ya everytime i clean her, which is like every other day. she is a little boston terrier and loves to get cleaned up so tossing her in the laundry room utility tub and giving her a quick bath takes no time at all. plus she absolutly loves the chicken flavored tooth paste!
Reply:yes, once a week ... but he hates it... i have to buy special tooth paste %26#039;beef flavored%26#039;.. the tooth paste runs around 8 bucks.
Reply:No. My dogs eat raw, meaty bones once a week and that keeps their teeth pearly white and tartar free.
Reply:Yes and she loves it actually twice a week and it takes care of her bad breath as well
Reply:i have 5 dogs and i brush their teeth every 2-3weeks or more if they require it. it is not a good idea to keep doing this as many parts and nutrients of their diet helps to clean and care for their teeth.

be careful if you do it as if you do it to hard or incorrectly you can make their gums sore and even bleed
Reply:Yes, I brush her teeth about twice a week. She has grown to love it.
Reply:Yes I do. In fact, I just did about two hours ago! I try to do it as often as possible even though my dogs don%26#039;t really like it, but it%26#039;s all to keep them healthy! :)
Reply:no
Reply:I have never brushed my dogs teeth. Ever. I have owned a lot of dogs their entire lives and none of them ever had their teeth brushed. My border collie was 18 when he died and my golden retriever was 14 - both had perfect teeth that were never brushed.

If you feed your dog dry dog-food, you probably don%26#039;t need to worry about it. I give my dogs dry food and Milk Bone dog biscuits. The vet always checks for tarter and never finds any.

Good luck.
Reply:Yes, I try to take care of my Shih Tzu%26#039;s teeth, because Shih Tzu%26#039;s are known for their bad teeth! As well as many small breeds.

I brush her teeth about once a week, usually Saturday%26#039;s. It%26#039;s good for her, and she hates it! Lol.
Reply:every 20 years ! liiike myself !

noo... im just kidding at least once a week ! dogs get bad breath .. just liike humans ! %26lt;3333
Reply:Yes, make sure that you get toothpase for dogs and not people. They have enzymes that help clean the dogs teeth in addition to the actual brushing. You should also get your dogs teeth cleaned by the vet. Like people, a dog with healthy teeth will stay healthy longer
Reply:I have owned three dogs and I have never, ever brushed their teeth. My last dog, who lived to be almost 14, never had any teeth problems, either. My newest dog, a ten-month old pup, will likely never has his teeth brushed either. Every once in a while they were/are given one of those %26quot;special dental bones,%26quot; but I have yet to experience teeth problems with a dog who doesn%26#039;t regularly get its teeth brushed.
Reply:I do once weekly. Sometimes I brush them more often if I have the time but usually I am good to do it once a week! :o)
Reply:Nope, never have and never will if I don%26#039;t have to. There are enough products on the market in the way of treats and chews for dogs that I believe do a good job in cleaning my furbabies%26#039; teeth.
Reply:I%26#039;ve always wanted to ask this question on Y!A.

Yes, I do. Once or twice a week, but it%26#039;s not her favorite activity. I can only brush my golden%26#039;s teeth though...my older dog absolutely will not tolerate it, unless there are multiple people helping. I started my golden at a very early age, so she%26#039;s used to it.
Reply:yes. try to do it once or twice a week. but most of the time i can only do in once. she hates it.

Do you brush your dog's teeth?

yes go to the pet store like pet smart or your vets they can tell u %26amp; show u how to do it at home .plus give your dogs the greenies bones they will also help clean your pets teeth.

Do you brush your dog%26#039;s teeth?
no but somehow they don%26#039;t have bad breathe. amazing it isn%26#039;t it.
Reply:Yes every two days. no tooth paste
Reply:Yes because it helps her teeth stay stong!
Reply:Yes you should! Go to the vet they can do it for you!!! or their are products that you can buy to do it.
Reply:Toothbrush
Reply:Yes. Once a week. Just look at the teeth and you will be able to tell. My weimweaner loves getting his teeth brushed. He cant wait once i get the brush out.
Reply:yeah
Reply:Definetly yes .Go to a good store like petco they have all you need. Or else take help from your vet.
Reply:It is much better for your dog for you to brush their teeth without using toothpaste. Also, giving them a dental bone can keep the plaque down as well. The Vet can brush their teeth if you can%26#039;t but if you start doing it when they are puppies, they get used to it.
Reply:No, but i%26#039;ve heard it%26#039;s a good thing to do. Maybe i will someday.
Reply:i give my dog nilk bone dog biscuts and thats seems to do the trick
Reply:I have to admit that I only brush teeth on the ones that I am showing. I%26#039;m a bad mommy and don%26#039;t seem to get around to doing it on all 6 dogs. However, I switched dog foods 1 1/2 years ago. When my 10 year old had her vet exam, she had very clean teeth! I use an all natural dog food, Canidae, and it has no food colorings. I believe this has really helped, as there is no other explanation of why a ten year old didn%26#039;t need a cleaning. Her pearly whites are still sparkling!
Reply:No, because i only have two cats, and no dogs.
Reply:Yes you do brush a dogs teeth you just need a special toothbrush and toothpaste so you dont ruin there teeth.but a lot of people dont.
Reply:no.
Reply:SOMETIMES. THEY HAVE PEANUT BUTTER TOOTHPASTE FOR DOGS. BUT IF YOU DON%26#039;T WANT TO DO THAT, START FEEDING YOUR DOG IAMS IT HAS A SELF CLEANING AGENT FOR THEIR TEETH IN IT.
Reply:I try to. But she runs and hides under the bed . instead I give her the tablets that come with the toothpaste .
Reply:Yes, they make some really good products for brushing a dog%26#039;s teeth and keeping the tartar under control. My dog doesn%26#039;t mind getting his teeth brushed at all, and it is hilarious to watch him keep poking his tongue out the whole time I%26#039;m brushing LOL
Reply:Yes. Actually, she just chews on the bristles with Dog toothepaste..she loves it.
Reply:no but my dog stinks!
Reply:Yes. I use a chicken flavored toothpaste %26amp; they love it.

Who here brushes their dog's teeth?

I used to work for a vet, so yes mine gets his brushed every evening. Most people will tell you that dental chews will do away with the need to brush the dogs teeth. Not true. Dental chews for them are like us chewing gum to some degree. The chews are good for them, most seem to like them, and it does reduce tarter. Their teeth and gums need to be brushed on a daily basis. Dental hygiene is as important to dogs and cats as it is to us.

Who here brushes their dog%26#039;s teeth?
I do, every day...that is only considerate
Reply:no. Give them denta bones and crunchy food. it naturally cleans the tartar from their teeth.
Reply:I brush both my dogs teeth 1st thing in the morning.
Reply:I give my Dog %26#039;dental chews%26#039; which gets rid of the need to brush their teeth.
Reply:once a month with doggie toothpaste
Reply:Not Me eeeew
Reply:I brush my pugs teeth once a week with doggie tooth paste, and I also give her denta bones every once in a while.
Reply:I do ! and I give him those milk bones and rawhide chewy things
Reply:Its a very good idea if you can get your dog to cooperate.
Reply:Yes and it%26#039;s a very good thing to do. Also get your dog a dental every year at the vet. You don%26#039;t want a dog with no teeth when it gets older do ya???
Reply:I have to _ i have 3 greyhounds and lots of them have bad teeth so they all get their teeth brushed regularly.
Reply:I do.

Well, that was easy.
Reply:I myself don%26#039;t brush my dogs teeth, but I take them to the groomers and have it done. Good hygiene for the dogs, keeps their smile pretty :)
Reply:I dont brush my dog%26#039;s teeth, giving them the greenies helps, but make sure that you give them the right sizes, because greenies can kill them if they aren%26#039;t chewed up correctly. But a yearly dental is recommended.
Reply:i do and my dogs likes it very much,,,
Reply:I do every 3 days.Sometime more often but I do...

Do you brush your dog's teeth? How often?

I haven%26#039;t needed to do any teeth cleaning since switching to Canidae dry dog food, nearly 3 years ago. Even my oldsters dog have clean white teeth and no tartar.

Do you brush your dog%26#039;s teeth? How often?
One I brush everyday, she lets me, the other is a cranky old coot and doesn%26#039;t like anyone touching his mouth. I buy big beef shin bones from the butchers for both, the old guy has had them for years and still has all his teeth and not a sign of a cavity.
Reply:Well my dogs mouth smells,So I just brush her teeth with toothpaste.....lol
Reply:Use a child%26#039;s soft-bristled brush and either special dog toothpaste or baking soda. Human toothpaste is not meant to be swallowed, which is what will happen to whatever you put in your dog%26#039;s mouth. Canine toothpaste is often meat flavored, making it a more pleasant experience for the dog. Use the brush to gently clean the surfaces of the teeth. There is generally no need to rinse.

there is more information on it on my source
Reply:yes , i do brush my dog teeth with safer dogs toothbrush and toothpasted thats only for dogs . i dont brush my dog teeth every day , just once or three times week after eaten. you know that the pet shop sell dogs and cats breath mints thats shapes of milkbones for the dogs , for cats shape of cat face.
Reply:yes I try to brush them 1 time per week, but it doesn%26#039;t always happen. I ask it of my adopties too, In my puppy fact sheet. The decay on a dogs teeth can actually cause a bacteria that can go to the heart and kill them. make sure you a tooth paste for petstore or dental office or jefferspets.com. I tried the walmart brand and did not work. what a diffrence in brands. I also use a soft human toothbrush which they say not to do. but it really does not hurt your dogs teeth. I also use the scraper they sell at jefferspets. And the stuff you put in there water.
Reply:I did a couple of times and it dint work he had lost teeth
Reply:Yes especially small dogs they can build tatar and what not on there teeth which is not good for them. Also my grandmother was instructed by a vet that you should brush your dogs teeth once a day.
Reply:once or twice day tar buildup
Reply:Generally, if you feed your dog a good hard kibble, you shouldn%26#039;t have to. And if you do, according to my vet, you really only have to clean the outer side of the teeth. They usually get tartar in that area up by the gums. Good Luck!!

P.S. your local vet should have doggy toothpaste for sale if you need it.
Reply:Yes. Once or twice a week
Reply:Every other day. I use the dog toothpaste and the finger tooth brush. It take time for the dog to get used to it, but it is so important especially in toy breeds.
Reply:I brush my dog%26#039;s teeth 2-3 times a week. Make sure to buy toothpaste made especially for dogs though. Never ever use human toothpaste. I learned from my vet that brushing your dog%26#039;s teeth makes a great difference in preventing build-up and gum disease.
Reply:Yes! dogs are also prone to cavities...in brushing their teeth regularly you can reduce the virus presence in their mouth
Reply:Yes. I brush my dog%26#039;s teeth every night. That is to clean out all the food remains she%26#039;s been eating the entire day.
Reply:I used the Oral B disposable thing one time. My dalmatian did not enjoy that, and tried to bite me.
Reply:Oh, I do it after I wash my dog
Reply:I never brush his teeth: don%26#039;t have to. If he%26#039;s being fed proper kinds of food, there will be no tartar build up. I%26#039;m no fan of kibble, but if you consider teeth only, there should be some brands that keep the mouth of your dog healthy and clean.

If your dog has bad breath, check his teeth: if there is plaque, get his teeth cleaned and change his food. If his teeth are clean, get him checked out completely. Unless of course the bad breath is caused by the week old dead thing he just found in the bushes and gulped down before you could stop him :-))
Reply:Try gumabone (comes in chicken and other flavors.) If your pet chews on it regularly, you%26#039;ll see a noticeable reduction in plaque.
Reply:I found his product that you just mix in the dogs water and its also safe for cats too.. Its called liquid oral care.. I found it at myers.. Also theres a websit called www.petkin.com.. You do have to change the water daily but it doesnt require brushing.. They also carry oral care wips too... Its only about 4 to 5 dollars a bottle.. And so far with my 13 yr old dog its working well..

Do u brush your dog's teeth? or do u take him to the dentist for a cleaning? or the grooming for a cleaning?

yes i do. i brush every other day. saves on vet bills...even though i have pet insurance for him lolol

Do u brush your dog%26#039;s teeth? or do u take him to the dentist for a cleaning? or the grooming for a cleaning?
No a bath when he is stinky thats about it
Reply:no i dont brush my wifes teeth
Reply:I give him dentachew bones.
Reply:I used to brush my dogs teeth.... but when he went to the spa they would clean them so much better....
Reply:yeah, I%26#039;m with maddy
Reply:My vet does my dog%26#039;s cleaning. We bathe our dogs and cut their nails.
Reply:no, but we brush out cats teeth, we dont have a dog...
Reply:I bathe my dog myself usually once a month. I don%26#039;t brush his teeth, but I constantly supply him with bones. Especially dental bones. They work great at keeping tarter to a minimum. Better than brushing i think.
Reply:If you give him cookies called milkbones, they make his teeth white, or they have treats to give them too, that are called greenies.
Reply:I just give my dog a bath..and no,I don%26#039;t brush his teeth..but u can.
Reply:It depends on the dog. Some dogs don%26#039;t need to have their teeth brushed regularly, and some do. Ask your groomer what they suggest for your dog. One of the best things for a dog%26#039;s teeth is a milkbone (or a dentabone) which help clean their teeth and the dogs love them.

My dog, a small mixed breed, gets her teeth cleaned when she goes to the groomers for a bath and hair cut (usually about once every two months).
Reply:You can get this chew toy at a pet smart for only 4-5 dollars. it cleans there teeth and gets rid of the bad breath. You can brush the teeth but i don%26#039;t recommend it to you. The dog would not be very happy with you. Taking the dog to the vet can cost a big amount of money, but they do a good job. i recommend that you go get the toy/bone. it really works.....good luck.
Reply:I do both. I brush my dogs teeth once a week, give him dental bones, and when I go to the vet he checks my dogs teeth to see if its healthy
Reply:I brush all my dogs teeth once a week. Every 2 months I use metal dental pics and scrape off any tartar. I also give bones which help but do not get everything. My 7 yr old chihuahua has teeth like a puppy, perfectly clean and white!!!
Reply:sour
Reply:You can do all three (although instead of a dentist, it should be a veterinarian). If your dog is cooperative, you can save some money by brushing your dog%26#039;s teeth on your own, but make sure to get the toothbrush %26amp; toothpaste from a pet store. Dogs are different from humans so you shouldn%26#039;t brush their teeth with the products we use.

A vet may be a bit more expensive and a groomer may include a tooth-brushing with other grooming needs.

I brush my dog%26#039;s teeth on my own since I feel more comfortable with the way I do it.
Reply:no
Reply:some dogs must be brushed, others it%26#039;s less imperative. my current dog has to be brushed or he gets abscesses; already had 3 extractions. i tried everything %26amp; he wouldn%26#039;t let me brush(as didn%26#039;t start as a pup) he would only lick the meat-flavored toothpaste off the brush. got the special CET chews %26amp; special T/D food, and that helped a little. dont snack, no non-dog food, good quality dog food, no sweets, etc.

finally i asked a yahoo question %26amp; now I use gause wrapped around my fingertip with either boullion cube %26amp; bicarb paste, or just regular human toothpaste. this he accepts better. but he still needs another pulled, it%26#039;s so sad.

this is all on top of him getting under anesthesia vet cleanings 1-2x year and seeing a special dental vet. the vet says many breeds are just prone to it.

then my old old old dog, long deceased? 16 years, no dental care, ate everything (including boxes of chocolates whenever the opportunity presented itself), no problems.

even in the canine world, life is not fair!
Reply:I brush their teeth. I use Petdental natural
Reply:You may brush your dogs teeth with specail dog paste you can buy at wal-mart or target. and also give them greenes and let them chew on real raw hid,
Reply:If you learn the proper way to clean your dog%26#039;s teeth, you could save big $$$ later on in vet bills. Canine tooth buildup has been known to show problems with the liver, kidneys, and heart if left unattended. Ask your vet how to clean your breeds teeth at your next visit.
Reply:Brush your own dog%26#039;s teeth. If you take him to the vet, they are going to have to give him general anesthesia. Use a kid%26#039;s soft toothbrush, and dog toothpaste.
Reply:Yes, my dogs regularly get their teeth brushed, they also chew on nylabones, greenies and milk bones (although those don%26#039;t help teeth at all, dogs just like them). They also get their teeth cleaned at the vets as necessary - every 3 years approx.
Reply:i give my dogs dental bones and i groomed the long haired chi%26#039;s the short haired don%26#039;t get groomed they just get bathes sometimes.
Reply:u can do it urself with toothpaste and brush. its cheaper and u have more time to thoroughly brush daily

Is eating crackling dog food good for our teeth?

sometimes i like to crack hard cookies with my teeth, but eating cookies is a bit expensive and dog food seems to be a good alternative

Is eating crackling dog food good for our teeth?
Dear kantstandu, If you think that dog food is a good alternative to cookies, you%26#039;re probably right. Dog food would be more nutritious, less sugar, and like you say, have the added benefit of cleaning the tartar from your teeth. Good suggestion!
Reply:maybe a better alternative is goin to a phsyciatrist if u even THANK about munchy crunchin on some gogg food.
Reply:Yes, very good for your teeth. You may want to kick it up a notch and get you some Fancy Feast Seafood Platter (cat food) for a delightful and satisfying dip.
Reply:Oh, that%26#039;s disgusting! Great joke though. Don%26#039;t forget the pet food recall. You could get poisoned, too. Stick with the cookies and at least you won%26#039;t get kindey failure from the pesticide used on the grain used to make them.
Reply:dont eat dog food it is not healthy for human consumption just eat crunchy cookies
Reply:You%26#039;re kidding, right? You need to work on your sense of humor, because that%26#039;s one of the dumbest things I ever heard.

Should you brush your dog's teeth?

Yes, you should. I brush my dogs teeth every night, but it is recommended that owners brush 3-4 times a week. I perform the dental procedures at my work and can tell you that I absolutely see a difference with those dogs that get their teeth brushed on a weekly basis.

ADD: NO human toothpaste! Not even kids!! Dog toothpaste only.

Should you brush your dog%26#039;s teeth?
once in a while so they won%26#039;t get tooth decay
Reply:You can and it is recommended but I have to admit that I generally don%26#039;t. A dog on hard food usually don%26#039;t need it.
Reply:A vet will say you should but... they do sell dental biscuits, much easier!
Reply:some dog breeds are prone to worse tooth decay than others. also, if you feed your dog wet food, it is more likely to experience decay. it is recommended that you do brush their teeth once a week or so, but raw hide chips also help keep them clean. the brushing is good to get rid of tarter and caked in stuff, but you really have to be able to be thorough. if your dog fights it, introduce them to the doggy toothpaste, which usually tastes pleasant. then use a finger brush first, because it is easier to feel around in his mouth. the bigger brush will have to be something you build up to, especially if you have an older dog.
Reply:Yes - and combine that with dental checkups and cleaning as needed at your vet.

Oxyfresh makes an oral hygeine solution that you put in their water to help keep teeth clean - it%26#039;s great stuff.
Reply:I brush my dogs teeth every time I bathe and groom her.The dry dog food helps a lot to take the plaque off their teeth but it doesn%26#039;t hurt to brush and save some money on teeth care later in life.
Reply:You definitely can, if the dog accepts it. Find a mild kids%26#039; toothpaste (making sure that there are NO ingredients a dog shouldn%26#039;t have), or even better, buy dog toothpaste at your local pet store. You can use an old human brush, just make sure to designate it %26quot;DOG BRUSH%26quot; so your family won%26#039;t use it for themselves. xD

Put a little tiny dot of toothpaste on the brush, and gently lift your dog%26#039;s lip as if examining his teeth. Praise him while you do this, then gently insert the brush into his mouth. If he rejects it, it may just take a little patience and time for him to get used to this odd tasting stick in his mouth.

If brushing won%26#039;t prevent tartar on dogs, it certainly helps minimize it, so their teeth look shiny clean, and their breath doesn%26#039;t smell like dog food all the time. Since most dogs don%26#039;t get their teeth brushed anyways, once a week or so is usually good increments for brushing; so your dog won%26#039;t have to sit around having his teeth brushed every day. Most dogs won%26#039;t %26quot;love%26quot; the brushing, but if they don%26#039;t mind it, that%26#039;s what you%26#039;re going for.

If your dog doesn%26#039;t like it at first though, you should give it time and don%26#039;t force him to sit there while you brush his teeth. Brushings can be very short in the beginning, or even try to ease the brush into his mouth without anything on it. When starting to brush your dog%26#039;s teeth, while he%26#039;s still getting used to it, you can feed a small treat after each brushing, and praise him with a favorite toy or pats on the head.

Hope this helps. ^-^

Good luck with your pup!
Reply:Yes. Dog%26#039;s need to have their teeth brushed and cleaned just like humans, except with dog toothpaste.
Reply:raw meaty bones act as a natural toothbrush. They work better that any dentabone, and better than toothbrushing.

I have never brushed my dogs teeth, they eat a raw diet, and my vet has always been very impressed with their teeth.
Reply:Yes actually, ridiculous as it sounds, you do. I found this out the hard way. My first dog now has gingivitis. If you are going to brush your dogs teeth you should use ONLY WATER, unless you buy special toothpaste for dogs. And if your dog won%26#039;t let you brush his teeth than let him chew on the bristles. Also I%26#039;ve heard of these bones that work like a toothbrush, you could try that.
Reply:Yes, definitely - especially if you have a small dog. Ideally a small dog should have it%26#039;s teeth brushed daily. A larger dog 5 to 6 times a week. It prevents tooth decay and prevents tarter and plaque from building on the teeth which if it breaks loose can lead to infection.

What is my dog telling me when he bares this teeth at me?

I grab his paws or his legg and he doesn%26#039;t particular like it...thats fine and all. he%26#039;s super friendly and rarly has tempers.. but he kind of like bares his teeth at me when I do that. its kind of like a dog growling showing it%26#039;s teeth, but only he is not growling... what is that?

What is my dog telling me when he bares this teeth at me?
he%26#039;s telling you %26quot;i really don%26#039;t like this, so back off or i%26#039;m gonna take a big chunk out of you%26quot;

How can I keep my dog's teeth clean without using a toothbrush or taking it to the dentist?

Dry kibble doesn%26#039;t gunk up teeth like canned dog food will. Dental chew bones are nice treats on a frequent basis (1-3 times a week). But, this won%26#039;t %26quot;do it%26quot; when it comes to dental health. It%26#039;s roughly like telling your kid, %26quot;just don%26#039;t eat sweets%26quot;. It%26#039;ll help but it won%26#039;t prevent tooth decay.

OraVet is a weekly paste that you apply to the dogs teeth with a supplied applicator (from your vet. Highly recommended!!) One box has about a months worth of applications. This is my preferred method of dental care.

Toothbrush, wetted and dipped in baking soda then applied by regular brushing. Unlike OraVet, this is applied daily.

Annual pet dental care month is in February and most vets offer a discount on tooth cleaning then. This is still pricey and the dog usually needs to be given a heavily sedative for it. But, you only do it once a year. (you should be cleaning the other 11 months as well, though!). This is sort of like removing bad teeth as your regular course of dental care. It%26#039;ll keep you from dieing from the systemic infection you would have had....but your teeth still stink and look bad.

How can I keep my dog%26#039;s teeth clean without using a toothbrush or taking it to the dentist?
How would you keep YOUR teeth clean without brushing or going to the dentist? Think about that seriously for a few minutes, and whatever you come up with, do that for your dog.
Reply:go to the pet store and get a chew toy called squeaky clean or something and as they chew on it it cleans their teeth and it is cheap to
Reply:there are alot of different types of dog treats and chew toys that are made to clean dogs teath. My dog personally loves Greenies. they are a green chew bone that looks like a tooth brush. they keep his teeth really clean!
Reply:Bog biscuits, like Milk-bone are supposed to help clean Fido%26#039;s teeth!
Reply:Chicken necks are pretty good, dont cost much either.
Reply:There are plenty of chew toys and bisquits you can give your dog for dental health and fresh breath. Try visiting a pet store.
Reply:Raw bones-beef knuckle bones are great. Also, everyone I%26#039;ve spoken to who feeds raw, their dogs%26#039; teeth are as healthy as can be...
Reply:they make these green things now that look like toothbrushes %26amp; they are treats for the dog to eat %26amp; it cleans there teeth %26amp; make their breath fresh too. I think they r called Greenies or something. There%26#039;s probably a few different brands. Look at grocery store or pet store

Reply:My dog is on Science Diet TD that is made to help keep the dogs teeth clean. It is by prescription, so visit your vet %26amp; have them prescribe it for your dog. I also buy some chews from my vet to help with her teeth. She loves the dog food %26amp; the chews!
Reply:greenies, milk bones, rawhides...anything that the dog can chew on basically, will help remove tartar
Reply:The best way by far are the two ways you are excluding. A close alternative is to use a cloth to %26quot;brush%26quot; his teeth as you would with a brush.

Dry kibble is not a substitute, though it is better than wet kibble, nor are Greenies, they are horrible for your dog by the way!!!

Some rawhide treats are okay from my experience, but should be used under supervision and never more than a couple a week. Ideally you would brush your dogs teeth every day or every other day. I guess the best suggestion is the cloth idea (don%26#039;t use human tooth paste since it is not formulated to be swallowed).

If you groom your dog regularly, this can be an additional part of their service (or is in my area), since you don%26#039;t seem to have the time for this service, this could be another good alternative.

Why dose my dog's teeth fall of?

depends on the age of your dog. if he%26#039;s young, it might be his milk teeth falling off or if he%26#039;s old, your dog may have cavities or gum disease.

Do i need to brush my dog's
teeth?

if so, how do i do it and how often do i need to do it? do pet stores sell toothbrushes and toothpaste for dogs? thanks!

Do i need to brush my dog%26#039;s

teeth?
yes, you must brush your dogs teeth. pet stores sell toothpastes and toothbrushes made for dogs, but they aren%26#039;t like humans, dogs can consume the toothpastes, since they can%26#039;t spit it out. you should brush you dogs teeth, preferably once a week; if you don%26#039;t the food will accumulate onto his/her teeth and harden, making it much harder later on in the years, and possibly your dog%26#039;s teeth may begin to decay. the toothpastes come in different flavors, so your dog won%26#039;t mind the flavor, however it%26#039;s hard to actually stick a brush into his/her mouth. watch out for them teeth!
Reply:My vet recommends it. Daily if you can. But don%26#039;t bother with the toothpaste...that%26#039;s waste of money. Just get the brush that goes over your finger, and do it gently.
Reply:Gently,,but please, share the toothbrush,,,LOL
Reply:yes they do and if his breath smells unbearable then u should brush his teeth. It%26#039;s not gonna be an easy feat but u should be ok
Reply:After the dog is about a year old it%26#039;s good to start brushing his/her teeth...you can get toothbrushes and meat flavored toothpaste at Petsmart or one of those pet superstores.
Reply:no they sell biscuts that will clean them and kill odors , just go to your local pet shop.
Reply:Yes to all your questions. I found the best tooth brush for them is one that slips over your finger. It is easier that way. You should do this once a day. Dogs and cats a like need to have good oral hygiene. A lot of other things can happen (like diseases) if you don%26#039;t take care of there teeth. My dogs love the beef flavored tooth paste. Oh, never use human toothpaste on them.
Reply:you could or you could get the dental bones. dogs do have to have dental care. if you take your dog to the vet. you will find that they do dental check-up during each visit there. they also have snack like foods that the dogs like that clean the tartar off of their teeth and freshens it%26#039;s breath. if your dog has really bad breath, you can find if you look hard enough double breath freshening.
Reply:Yes, you do need to brush your dogs teeth.Yes, they do sell toothpaste for dogs and you an get a brush that fits over the finger.

Dental health is very important for your pet. Bad teeth leads to other health problems, including heart problems. (from the bacteria)

Never use human tooth paste on a dog.
Reply:yes it is very important to keep up your pooches oral hygein just like you do your own!! bad oral care can cause alot of problems later on in life. i see it all the time!you can purchase toothpaste and a special toothbrush at any pet store or vet. put a little on your finger to get him used to the taste then gradually use you finger to work it on the teeth then graduate to the brush.this should be done 1-2xs a week.also rawhides and greenies are good for dental cleaning.plus take to vet every couple years for cleaning or you risk health issues and losing their teeth
Reply:Get a good quality rope toy..( not the dollar store one, but the Hartz ones at your grocers are fine) .the ones that appear to be twisted string tied in a knot. Soak it in unsalted broth. Dry it in a very slow oven. she will try to chew all the falovor out of that, and it works as dental floss to keep her teeth clean, and her breath fresh.

If she grows tired, (couple of months)as the flavor is gone, just wash by hand, and re-soak.
Reply:It is best to brush every day... But if that is not feesible, buy dental bones and feed your dog only dry food. This will help keep their teeth plaque free.

Pet stores sell toothbrushes and toothpastes for dogs.
Reply:yeah i do it like once or twice a week! but i would do it more often if my doggi%26#039;s let me! lol but yea you can!
Reply:Yes, all pets stores sell toothpaste and toothbrushes, some carry the combo. Brushing a dogs teeth helps with bad breath and keeps his gums health. Very healthy for a dog but tedious. Dogs usually don%26#039;t like it and will move around alot making it hard to do. Some foods, doggy treats and chew toys do the job just as well.
Reply:Yes, dental health is as important for your dog as it is for you. However, be careful. Human toothpaste will cause upset stomachs and things. I usually use an old human toothbrush. Instead of toothpaste, I mix a little (very little) bit of baking soda with some water. Also, the vet can do yearly dentals to get some of the deeper cleaning...just like when you go to the dentist.
Reply:you should. i use to do that after my dog%26#039;s bath. i didn%26#039;t use anything special, just a tooth brush and toothpaste but, deffinetly don%26#039;t use your own toothpaste, buy a different one for the dog. if you don%26#039;t do that, get the bones that help the teeth.
Reply:Please brush your dog%26#039;s teeth...I have been a pet owner for many many years. The built up plaque causes problems to their blood stream and vets get really upset about this. Please have a professianal scaling of the teeth with the Vets office soon. Make sure that the dog always stays current with shots too! This will extend the life of your pet. Sometimes while walking and sniffing in the grass they can pick up a parasite and get really sick. Ice water in the summer is really great too!!!!

Clean my dog's teeth?

how to

Clean my dog%26#039;s teeth?
Go to the pet shop. They have special chew sticks that clean dogs teeth. Also take him/her to the vets , they can have a good look and give you the best advice. They will do a clean for you and advise on how to keep dogs teeth healthy.

Well done for looking after your pet.

M : )
Reply:A toothbrush and a little bit of toothpaste works all the time
Reply:milkbone and some other dog biscuits promote cleaner teeth. My Dad also used a human toothbrush (hopefully he didn%26#039;t borrow mine)
Reply:buy some teeth wipes and rub them on his/her teeth. Or make him/her chew on the wipes.
Reply:Have Your Vet Do It.
Reply:http://www.sandralamarche.com/GentleDent...

There is special tooth paste that can be purchased at the store or vet. You just brush your dogs teeth like you would brush yours. You can also use baking soda. If he is an older dog, good luck with trying that. If he is a puppy start them while they are young so they are used to it and will stand still as they get older.
Reply:A toothbrush and a tiddy bit of toothpaste.
Reply:I make a paste of baking soda, water and strained chicken baby food.

Then brush away!
Reply:Ask your grocer or butcher for any surplus bones that he/she can give you. Dogs teeth are cleaned when chewing bones in much the same way people can keep their teeth clean by eating apples or similar fruit.
Reply:They sell small tooth paste and brushes for pets at any pet store.

Sometimes they look like our own tooth paste and tooth brush. Others come with something that looks like a rubber thimble (thumb puppet) which we put over our finger and put a paste on and then we rub over their teeth.

Be very careful not to rub hard on his/her teeth and gum line.

Also there are treats that help their teeth to be clean.

But it is wonderful that you want to keep your dog%26#039;s teeth clean, this will allow for him/her to maintain his health.

Gently brush the back area and slowly move forward to the more difficult teeth in the front and his/her canines.

And dont use human tooth pastes or brushes, our toothpaste is not edible for them and our toothbrushes are typically harder bristled then their.

If your dog is small you can hold him/her in your laps, but if he/she is large, then maybe you should have him/her sit (maybe with the leash on) and hold his mouth open. He/she might like the taste of the paste.

*Tip* Have the dog taste the dog paste first and see if he/she likes it.
Reply:Using a toothbrush is fine, but DO NOT use human toothpaste! This can make your doggie sick. There are doggie toothpaste that come in beef or liver flavor that are safe for you dog. Baking soda, in small amounts, is ok too. Just like you brush your own teeth-do the same for your dog. There are things such a Greenies or Nutident, that can be between the brushing tartar removers. Getting your doggie a hard rubber toy to chew on will help also. If you are doing this for the first time alone, introduce the brush as a toy to the dog. Let him sniff and chew on it a little so he knows it isn%26#039;t a bad thing. Scaring your dog into good dental hygiene doesn%26#039;t work. Hope some of this helps and good luck.
Reply:I feed a raw diet. No need for teeth brushing or dentals at the vet. Their diet keeps my dogs%26#039; teeth clean naturally.

Milk bones, kibbles etc. against popular belief, don%26#039;t do this.
Reply:If you have a veterinarian, go to their clinic and ask them about oral hygiene products such as CET enzymatic chews-which act as little toothbrushes to clean your dogs teeth as they chew, or you can buy dog toothbrush and toothpaste. If your pet has a lot of tartar buildup on his/her teeth it is recommended that you take them in to you vet and have them do a dental cleaning, scaling, polishing and flouride treatment. After a dental cleaning, the company Merial makes a product called Oravet that you can but get-its like a petroleum jelly substance that you can apply to you pet%26#039;s teeth once a week to help prolong the dental cleaning
Reply:don%26#039;t use human toothpaste, you need to go to the pet store and get toothpaste made for dogs. Dogs will swallow the toothpaste and human toothpaste can harm them.
Reply:open ur dogs teeth and with ur finger rub ur dogs teeth then after about 1 to 2 weeks take a very small cloth and agian rub ur dogs teeth with it. And one ur dog gets use to that then with a tooth brush start to get him/her used to it and then start to brush her teeth with it.

How can I help my dog lose his lingering baby teeth?

My dog is 10 months old %26amp; still has not lost his 4 canine baby teeth (you know, canine like the longer teeth in the corners of your mouth, not as in K-9).

He lost all his other baby teeth by the time he was about 6 months old. Now he has a little bit of a shark-mouth thing going on because he has both his adult canines %26amp; the baby canines.

Apparently it%26#039;s bad for the health of his teeth %26amp; mouth %26amp; they are going to need to be pulled. It%26#039;s supposed to cost roughly $280 to get them pulled, but since I%26#039;m a college student, it%26#039;s a bit pricey for my little budget.

Aside from the heap of rawhides he already chews on, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to maybe help him lose those 4 lingering canines to avoid the hefty bill at the vet%26#039;s. Please let me know if you have any ideas!!

Are pedigree dentastix good for dog's teeth?

I can not give my dogs synthetic bones or they fight over them, and I can not split them up or they cry for each other, and will not touch the bone, so I bought the dentastix because they are soft, and they eat them faster, so they don%26#039;t fight over it. Does anyone have experience w/dentasticks?

Are pedigree dentastix good for dog%26#039;s teeth?
Hi,

I have used dentastix for quite a while now for my two staffies. They work extremely well from my experience. Our dog Mako was starting to get build up at 1.5 yrs of age, we tried the dentastix and it has made a big difference. We give them both one every couple of days. It%26#039;s a much safer alternative to bones.

Another option that I was told about by our vet is to give them chicken frames. You don%26#039;t have to give them much and because the bones are soft and crunched up easily you can put some pieces in their dinner bowls at feed time. Chicken wings are another alternative as well. I give my dogs chicken wings sometimes but they need to be supervised and to stop them gulping them down we hold the wings for them while they crunch on the bones. The most important thing with chicken frames/bones is that you DON%26#039;T cook them.

Hope this helps.

Do dog's teeth need cleaned regularly?

Aside from brushing them, do they really need cleaned professionally on a bi-annual basis?

Do dog%26#039;s teeth need cleaned regularly?
absolutely, for the same reason we need our own teeth cleaned professionally. In my opinion, bi-annually may be a bit much, talk to your veterinarian (or a couple vets) to decide on a reasonable cleaning schedule.

Just like our teeth, plaque and tarter can build up under the gum lines where we can%26#039;t reach with our tooth brushes and a professional cleaning with use of a scaler will remove all debris and then polish the surfaces to prevent further build up.

When plaque builds up where we can%26#039;t reach it, it harbors bacteria which can cause inflammation and pain, it can become so severe as to lead to damage of the liver, kidney, and heart through septicemia.

And don%26#039;t stop brushing at home! that is half of the equation to good health care. You just need the other half to equal one healthy pet.

-RVT
Reply:well you can get them cleaned professionally. i know petco does it but just for dogs i believe, which is what you need so yea lol. um, my dog got her teeth cleaned occasionally but i didn%26#039;t really have a schedule for her. but you could just have your dogs teeth brushed when you take it to the groomers!

well, good luck!
Reply:yes they will bleed, turn yelllow if you don%26#039;t
Reply:No. What I do for my pup, is feed her special raw hind that helps clean her teeth and gums. Removes the tartar that builds up as well.

It%26#039;s tasty and a lot less of a hassle and fuss then brushing. Its a win-win situation. :)
Reply:As long as you brush regularly, they should be fine.
Reply:No, it’s not necessary (especially on a bi-annual basis! I don’t even go to the dentist for MY teeth that often). The vet will always look at them when you take your dog for shots and check-ups, and if they say the teeth are fine, then they are fine. If you already brush them, you do more than most people bother to, so I don’t think you need to worry about it. There are treats and chews made specifically to clean teeth a well, so if you want to do a bit more, look into those.
Reply:Ummmmm. We never clean my dogs teeth. At all. She is going on 3 years and has had no teeth problems. I know a lot of dogs that go their whole lives without %26quot;dental%26quot; care. So really, i say no.

My dog's teeth are bleeding, what can I do/what is causing this?

Every time she chews on her raw hide bone, her gums bleed. She is a Bodeguero and 7 months old.

My dog%26#039;s teeth are bleeding, what can I do/what is causing this?
I would say that at 7 months old she is teething. Our Lab chewed non stop between 5 and 7 months, and had small amounts of blood also. Many years ago our Vet said as long as the gums looked healthy, and there was no smell,it is perfectly normal.I bet within another month or so,your dog will have all it%26#039;s adult teeth, and the bleeding will stop.If it%26#039;s very heavy bleeding,or if it still worries you, contact your Vet,they would be happy to discuss it with you.
Reply:gum disease
Reply:Gingivitis. Get doggy toothpaste and brush her teeth everyday. I%26#039;m not kidding. My vet told me to brush my dogs teeth. You can also have a dental cleaning done by your vet.
Reply:This is quite common, for dogs gums to bleed when they chew on these. They are quite hard, so rough bits as they chew, rub against the gum. Chewing these things are good for them, as it is a bit like cleaning the teeth. It get s the plaque off their teeth.

Also, she is only 7 months old, - i guess she probably has her adult teeth in or coming in, by now. As she loses her baby/puppy teeth, there may be a little blood too.

(I kept my puppy%26#039;s baby teeth as they fell out! I didnt put them under her pillow tho, for the doggy tooth fairy!!!)

I wouldnt worry about it too much. Next time you are at the vet, you could ask about it, but I think he will tell you similar to what I have said.

Good luck!
Reply:My pit bull pup had the same problem. Only happened when he ate those rawhide chew toys, I think its teething. My dog%26#039;s teeth are falling out!!!??
Hi,

It will be worth taking your dog to the vet. If her teeth are falling out there is obviously something going on and she is probably suffering from advanced dental disease. It%26#039;s unfair to leave her be as she will most likely be in some pain and discomfort. I recently had to take my mum%26#039;s dogs to the vets for similar reasons, they are both ten and both were suffering from advanced dental disease. It is quite expensive to have dental work done, but it%26#039;s definitely worth having her checked out to ensure that she isn%26#039;t suffering.

For all those people who are being judgemental and so ignorant that they think you can report someone for not looking after their dogs teeth....

Not everybody is aware that dental rountine is just as important in dogs as it is people. This practice has only been adopted in more recent times and in failing to brush your dogs teeth does not mean you are neglecting your dog. I have dogs and they have dental hygiene routine%26#039;s however owners were never previously made aware of bad dental disease can be for pets and therefore there are many people who are not aware of the need. Just because they don%26#039;t adopt this routine does not mean the are neglecting, abusing or loving their animal any less. I%26#039;m sure the animal protection societies have more important things to do with their time than deal with people with such trivial issues...find out what real animal abuse is about and concern yourself with that.
Reply:Have you brushed its teeth lately? If not , GO TO THE VET!!!
Reply:Sounds like she has gum disease, my cat has it. You should go to the vet so they can pull the rotten teeth and prescribe some medicine for her. They can also suggest better food!
Reply:If she%26#039;s 5 years old with black gums, I%26#039;m guessing that she hasn%26#039;t been to the vet regularly. At this point, there is nothing that you can do. She has a serious gum disease. All her teeth will fall out, and she%26#039;ll be on wet food for the rest of her life.

Where do you live (so that I can call the ASPCA for you not properly caring for your dog)?
Reply:You need to take her to a vet, as soon as possible.
Reply:She should%26#039;ve started getting teeth cleanings by age 4. You need to get her in for a dental, it will only get worse!
Reply:Go to the vets for pete%26#039;s sake!

You can%26#039;t neglect your dog%26#039;s oral health like that! You should%26#039;ve brushed her teeth or given her dental bones or chew toys with nubs.
Reply:Time to take her to the vet.

Get her taken care of infections and tooth problems can lead to organ damage.
Reply:um sorry, take her to the vet, it sounds bad!!! :(
Reply:5 years is young for the dog to loose it%26#039;s teeth. tehre is probably gum disease.

She realy needs to see a vet teh teeth problem could either be from an known health problem or it can cause health problems ( some are fatal)
Reply:VET.
Reply:vet, vet, vet, they%26#039;re there for a reason.
Reply:For god sake, take her in and get her teeth cleaned once a year!! Thanks to your poor nuturing habits, all her teeth have rotted away.

In the future, take care of your dog. People like you don%26#039;t deserve their love and devotion.

.
Reply:either gum disease (although some dogs have black gums.

or those are her baby teeth falling out.

For now, just to make sure she is ok, take her to the vet, and give her some TLC!

Hope she feels better!
Reply:I%26#039;d take her to a vet, %26amp;, when she was younger, since she is a poodle, did you play %26quot;tug-a-war%26quot; with her?

If you played fetch, did you pullthe ball from her mouth?

This is a mistake many people make.

If you pull toys out at a young age, the animal%26#039;s teeth will fall out when they%26#039;re older, so yeah, take her to a vet.

Hope this helps! :D
Reply:You need to take her to the vet to get a dental check.
Reply:Well you better take her to the vet then, hadn%26#039;t you? Sounds like she has some serious dental problems, must be very painful for her!

Imagine what it would be like for YOU if you couldn%26#039;t chew food because your gums were black and your teeth were falling out. Would you go on the computer? Or might you be trying to find an emergency dentist to save you from the pain?
